Her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Netherlands will provide the opening keynote speech at Sibos 2022, held on 10-13 October 2022.

The member of Dutch royalty will participate in the event in her capacity as the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development (UNSGSA), a role she has held since 2009.

Queen Máxima is also the Honorary Patron of the G20’s Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion and convened the CEO Partnership for Economic Inclusion. As an advocate for financial inclusion, she will share her insights on the role of the industry and policymakers in improving digital access to responsible and affordable financial services.

“We’re thrilled that UNSGSA Queen Máxima will open this year’s Sibos as we return to a physical event in Amsterdam,” said Jaime Lee, head of Sibos for SWIFT. “Her leadership driving global access to financial services will set the tone for a rich conference programme and what promises to be a week of high-quality learning and debate.

“UNSGSA Queen Máxima will feature alongside more than 250 expert speakers from across the financial ecosystem at Sibos 2022, debating the most pressing topics in finance. We’re also introducing a unique digital pass, ensuring that our global financial community can connect and benefit from this year’s diverse content programme from wherever they are in the world.”

This year’s conference will centre on the theme of ‘Progressive Finance for a Changing World’. Experts in banking, payments, technology, security services and fintech will share insights and facilitate debate on three subthemes: digital and technological opportunities, driving sustainable and ethics, and how to succeed in uncertain times.
