At the recent IFA event in Berlin, Microsoft revealed that the Windows 10 Creators Update will be available worldwide on October 17, a date which will also see the release of the previously announced Mixed Reality Headsets.
Updated Windows Inking now allows users to annotate PDFs to make sharing comments easier. Smart Ink also uses artificial intelligence (AI) to automatically create shapes and tables based on their doodles, and an all new Windows Find my Pen feature lets users track down their pen, wherever it might be lost.
Other new features in the update include a revamped Photos app which can deliver remixed experiences for telling stories with photos, videos, music, 3D and inking, while OneDrive Files On-Demand allows users to access cloud files like any other file on their PC, without eating into local storage space.
Security, which is now more important than ever, also gets a boost in the form of an updated Windows Defender, powered by cloud intelligence that provides new defenses against ransomware and exploits.
Accessibility has also been updated, with a new Eye Control feature. “Eye Control implements incredible eye tracking technology that lets you type and operate a mouse just using your eyes. This is life changing technology…,” said Terry Myerson, Microsoft’s executive vice president for the Windows and Device Group in a recent blog post.
