Insurance firm Allianz is to move key parts of its global platform, Allianz Business System (ABS), to Microsoft’s Azure cloud to streamline industry processes.

Microsoft will also partner with Allianz insurtech Syncier, to offer customised insurance solutions and reduce costs through ABS Enterprise Edition, a configurable version of the platform. Users Edition can manage portfolios end to end on the system, giving them a full view of each case.

According to Christof Mascher, COO of Allianz, it will enable larger insurers to update their legacy infrastructure and give smaller firms a scalable service.

“Teaming up with Microsoft and leveraging Azure’s secure and trusted cloud platform will support us in digitalising the insurance industry,” said Mascher. “Through this partnership, Allianz and Syncier strive to offer the most advanced insurance-as-a-service solutions on Microsoft Azure.”

As part of the partnership, Syncier will also offer an Azure-based marketplace for industry applications and services, to help firms easily access new tools.
