Several firms showcased how they are using Microsoft technology to help manufacturers transform production and engineering processes and build the smart factories of the future at Hannover Messe 2023.

During the event, which took place in Hanover, Germany from 17-21 April, digital transformation firm Rockwell Automation showcased its Plex Smart Manufacturing Platform at the Microsoft booth. The solution, which is now available on Microsoft Azure in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, is a cloud-based production platform that can connect people and systems, automate processes and track data from end to end.

“Together, Rockwell Automation and Microsoft are accelerating and simplifying the digital transformation of industrial enterprises with the proven expertise, market-leading technology, and resources needed to deliver better business outcomes,” said Dominik Wee, corporate vice president of manufacturing and mobility industry at Microsoft, who was on Microsoft’s booth at the event.

Also at the Microsoft booth, Sight Machine presented its Azure-optimised Manufacturing Data Platform, which captures an entire manufacturing process through digital twins and creates a common data foundation that contextualises all plant data collected.

Threedy, a solution provider that specialises in 3D data, demonstrated the integration of its instant3Dhub on Microsoft Teams. The platform will allow teams to collaborate, share and visualise 3D data across multiple devices which will streamline engineering and manufacturing processes.

Supply Chain Wizard was also at Hannover Messe showcasing SCW.AI, a digital factory platform. SCW.AI integrates artificial intelligence, automation, internet of things, and the Microsoft Cloud for Manufacturing to help firms gain an oversight of the entire supply chain process on one platform.

Meanwhile, Software AG demonstrated its IoT solutions, including WebMethods.io, TrendMiner and Cumulocity IoT, at the Microsoft booth. The Cumulocity IoT platform was developed to help firms simplify IoT projects by offering them self-service tools and a configuration-driven approach with out-of-the-box connectivity.

In addition, Ecolab showed how it is using Microsoft technology to support firms with their sustainability initiatives. The ECOLAB3D platform is cloud-based and uses IoT to help businesses gain insight into and improve their water management strategies, reduce usage, and optimise performance across supply chains.
