Hannover Messe: showcasing Industry 4.0, AI and 5G

Hannover Messe 2019 has officially opened its doors. This year’s event will showcase what we can expect from tomorrow’s factories, focusing on key topics including Industry 4.0, artificial intelligence (AI), 5G, lightweight construction and the future of work. The conference will also provide an ideal hub for those from industry and government to meet and connect.

Over the next five days (1-5 April) the event will feature 6,500 companies from 75 nations including global corporations, mid-size companies and start-ups which will all present their solutions for industrial production and tomorrow’s sustainable energy supply systems. It will be formally opened by German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Stefan Löfven, Prime Minister of Sweden, as this year’s Partner Country.

“Hannover Messe is the only platform worldwide that provides a holistic, integrated perspective on the key themes and trends shaping the future of industry,” said Jochen Köckler, chairman of the Managing Board of Deutsche Messe. “Only at Hannover Messe can visitors from the manufacturing industries and the energy sector gain such a comprehensive overview of the application scenarios and potential of Industry 4.0, AI, 5G and Smart Energy.”

The event will be particularly focussed on the new opportunities and possibilities opened up by the use of AI in industrial production, indicated by the show’s lead theme, ‘Industrial Intelligence’ – the banner under which companies from all around the world will showcase over 100 application examples of machine learning.

“AI is the heart of Industry 4.0,” said Köckler. “The ability it gives us to analyse vast amounts of data and arrive at informed decisions is what makes customised mass production possible.”
