Steigenberger Airport Hotel deploys Windows smartwatches

Steigenberger Airport Hotel in Frankfurt has provided its employees with new smartwatches manufactured by German company Trekstor.

The devices are powered by Windows 10 IoT Core, Microsoft’s operating system for the internet of things (IoT), and Azure IoT, Microsoft’s IoT cloud solution. These technologies integrate with Samfex – hotel management software that provides real-time information on activities such as scheduling and room maintenance.

The smartwatch solution allows messages to be transmitted between hotel staff, either silently or with voice. For example, front of house can let the housekeeping team know that a guest has shown up early or that extra pillows are required in a particular room.

“We have a well-trained, motivated and enthusiastic team, but to get to an even higher level of service, we decided to implement a technology solution that allowed them to perform at an even greater level of productivity,” said Michael Weil, manager of hotel operations, Steigenberger Airport Hotel Frankfurt.
