Mobile ticket payment solution provider PayiQ has expanded its business to St. Petersburg, Russia. This comes following the solution’s recent successful launch in Joensuu and Mikkeli in Finland.

The PayIQ Ticket mobile app allows users to top up their Porodozhnik travel card, so they can buy and use public transport without cash. Harnessing Microsoft Azure technology, it is available for both Android and iPhone users.

There are over six million users of the electronic Porodozhnik travel card and approximately 1.5 million journeys are made daily.

“We are very happy to expand the usage of PayiQ Tickets in St. Petersburg in such a short time,” said Tuomo Parjanen, CEO of PayiQ. “Our cooperation with St. Petersburg’s Transport Committee started last month with the launching of our mobile app for buying tram tickets and now we are enabling the mobile topping up of popular Porodozhnik metro travel cards. Our cloud-based technology enables an easy and cost-effective transition from traditional tickets to dynamic products and services. Our clients get a complete solution without expensive product development and maintenance costs.”
