AVEVA and Microsoft extend partnership with focus on cloud

AVEVA and Microsoft are expanding their long-standing partnership to drive digital transformation in the manufacturing and energy industries, by focusing on the cloud and artificial intelligence.

AVEVA aims to help customers maximise value from AVEVA’s integrated portfolio with Microsoft solutions such as Azure, to achieve implementations quicker, connect teams more readily and drive growth opportunities.

As part of the partnership, the two companies aim to help their joint customers address sustainability issues while adjusting to a “digital-first new normal”. Microsoft says that their joint solutions currently help organisations to deploy faster, reduce energy consumption, cut emissions, and share collaborative innovation, but that by fully embracing Azure AI services, for example, they can further support efficient energy management.

Microsoft and AVEVA will also focus their efforts on cloud more broadly, to help customers understand its value. An AVEVA survey found that 86 per cent of participants believe that digital transformation is a key part of their company’s strategic plan. However, Microsoft says that many organisations did not have plans to implement cloud technology as part of this strategy pre-pandemic. As such, the two companies will work to help customers explore new ways to use the cloud, Azure AI, Azure Machine Learning and Big Data Analytics.

“With today’s economic resilience now tied so closely to digital infrastructures, it is important the industrial organisations adopt a scalable, stable and harmonised framework to support their corporate strategies,” said Deb Cupp, an enterprise and commercial industries lead at Microsoft. “Cloud technologies like Microsoft Azure will enable businesses to configure, provision and design the solution they need, when and where they need it. Our collaboration with AVEVA will empower industrial and manufacturing organisations to develop innovative solutions for our customers.”
