Microsoft has been making some changes to its Office 365/Microsoft 365 offerings, including rebranding some of its Office 365 business plans with the Microsoft 365 name. Alongside the move, Microsoft has also introduced Microsoft 365 Personal and Family subscriptions and has launched new features to improve productivity.

Office 365 subscriptions for small and medium-sized businesses are being renamed with Microsoft 365, and enterprise users will see Office 365 ProPlus replaced with “Microsoft 365 Apps for the enterprise.” The rebrands do not include any pricing or feature changes.

“We’re simply announcing name changes,” wrote Jared Spataro, corporate vice president for Microsoft 365. “But these changes represent our ambition to continue to drive innovation in Microsoft 365 that goes well beyond what customers traditionally think of as Office. The Office you know and love will still be there, but we’re excited about the new apps and services we’ve added to our subscriptions over the last few years and about the new innovations we’ll be adding in the coming months.”

Alongside the enterprise changes, Microsoft has also introduced Microsoft 365 Personal and Family subscriptions to improve productivity at work and at home.

“Now more than ever, as many of us work and learn remotely, we are acutely aware of all the different ways life can interrupt work and work can interrupt life,” said Yusuf Mehdi, corporate vice president of Windows and Devices Group. “It’s never been more important to stay connected and on top of the things that matter.”

Microsoft has also launched new features as part of Microsoft 365, including AI-powered Microsoft Editor, which aims to improve writing in over 20 languages; PowerPoint Designer; and Money in Excel, a solution which helps users manage, track and analyse spending.

The new features began rolling out on 30 March and the Personal and Family subscriptions will be available worldwide by 21 April.
