The Professional Standards Association (PSA), which oversees UK health regulators, has restructured its IT architecture to deliver more efficient services to users, ease hybrid working, and remove the requirement for on-premises IT and offsite disaster recovery.

The PSA worked with IT service management provider Littlefish to upgrade its infrastucture, which was deemed to be large for its headcount and geared around a traditional ethos of centralised security.

The cloud transformation solution from Littlefish delivered a largely serverless IT model that would establish and drive further benefits of the PSA’s use of Microsoft 365 and Azure.

The new architecture makes hybrid working easier, through Microsoft Teams and its telephony function, includes a robust back-up solution and introduces a secure ‘bring your own device’ policy.

The PSA now also gains further value from its existing investment in Microsoft E5 licenses and consolidates licenses – including a move from Sophos AV to Microsoft Defender for Endpoint.

“The collaborative approach that Littlefish applied throughout this project was refreshing,” said Jane Carey, director of corporate services at PSA. “Littlefish demonstrated that they were really focused on enabling us to meet our goals through a strategic digital transformation that leveraged the public cloud and bolstered our operations for the future.”
