Microsoft has introduced new Copilot capabilities for enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions in Microsoft Dynamics 365, all of which leverage generative artificial intelligence to streamline project management, finance and supply chain operations.

“Traditional ERP solutions have struggled to keep pace with the dynamic nature of today’s global markets,” said Stephanie Dart, senior director of product marketing for ERP, finance and supply chain at Microsoft in a recent Microsoft blog post. “Complex and rigid processes within ERP create more work for people, and repetitive manual data entry overwhelms departments. Dynamics 365 Copilot promises to help finance managers, collections agents, project managers, and procurement professionals complete time-consuming tasks and get insights faster.”

Copilot in Dynamics 365 Project Operations uses AI to create task plans for project managers, draft project status reports, and predict and mitigate project risks. It uses project templates from previous and similar projects to provide timeline recommendations and accesses project key performance indicators, financial activity and other productivity analytics to create the status reports.

Meanwhile, Copilot in Dynamics 365 Finance provides collection managers with quick access to credit and payment history so that they can prioritise and personalise customer communication. This helps to increase successful collection rates and the quality of customer experience.

In addition, Copilot in Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management allows users to adjust and respond to purchase orders at scale with access to impact and risk data analytics. Employees can use these capabilities to identify high- or low-impact changes and address any risks quickly.

“At Microsoft, we are fully committed to revolutionising the future of ERP by harnessing the power of intelligent, composable technologies,” said Dart. “With its ability to speed time to insight, intelligently automate processes, and foster productivity, Copilot can help businesses to stay ahead in an increasingly complex business landscape.”
