Charles Tyrwhitt to expand into international markets with help of K3

K3 Retail is to implement a unified and fully integrated global platform based on Microsoft Dynamics AX to enable British heritage menswear brand and multi-channel retailer Charles Tyrwhitt to expand into international markets.

Charles Tyrwhitt aims to expand its presence in the European and Australian markets, as well as the US, where a fourth store will be opened in New York in 2015. The company already has stores in Chicago and Washington DC, US.

To ensure it is able to deliver a consistent customer experience across all branches and online channels, Charles Tyrwhitt has contracted K3 as an enterprise resource planning partner to replace its disparate and outdated systems via a Microsoft Dynamics AX-based system.

Designed to manage the company’s international business, the retail system will centralise business data and the fundamental omni-channel elements that impact the customer including product, transactions and channels. This will be supported by K3’s business intelligence suite, which will unify and manage all business data for global insight.

“Our biggest challenge is the validation and accuracy of data across the business,” said Simon Kerry, CIO at Charles Tyrwhitt. “We needed a platform that would enable growth on an international level and drive a better customer experience at the front end, while driving efficiency at the back-end. Microsoft Dynamics AX will do just this and in addition, it can be rolled out to new territories across the world, reducing barriers of entry into new markets with local language, currency and distribution – this is where K3 came in, to support the initiative and drive growth.”

The project, which started in November 2013 and is expected to span a 24-month period, will include a four-phased rollout of the solution to cover finance, buying and merchandising, retail and call centre. During the project, Charles Tyrwhitt and K3 will develop a range of customer-focused solutions for online and mobile channels. The companies will also leverage Microsoft Dynamics for Retail and K3’s ax | is fashion module. This will provide end-to-end lifecycle management, from initial garment design and production all the way through to channel allocation and merchandising.
