Dell unveils Spotlight on SQL Server Enterprise 11.0 solution

Dell has made a number of enhancements to its set of end-to-end SQL Server solution and announced the release Spotlight on SQL Server Enterprise 11.0 as the company reiterates its commitment to the SQL Server database market.

The company’s SQL Server solution portfolio helps customers get the most from their database investment, and as well as the new release of Spotlight on SQL Server Enterprise 11.0, upgrades have also been made to the company’s Foglight for SQL Server 5.7, Toad for SQL Server 6.5, LiteSpeed for SQL Server 8.0, and SharePlex 8.6 solutions.

Spotlight on SQL Server Enterprise 11.0 is a SQL Server database monitoring tool that builds on the success of the Wait Stat analysis workflow and introduces a multi-dimensional workload analysis. This helps provide users with maximum insight into performance issues.

The new release also features a mobile capability that enables SQL Server database administrators to remotely diagnose issues from their mobile phones. A new system centre operations manager (SCOM) management pack is also included as part of the new release, meaning SCOM users can leverage the new solution to meet monitoring and diagnostic needs.

The new SQL Performance Investigator has been introduced to Foglight for SQL Server 5.7, providing fast, accurate and detailed SQL workload analytics. Dell’s line of Toad data and data management solution also now supports the latest versions of SQL Server 2014 Enterprise and Express.

Dell has also revealed details of the planned release of version 8.6 of its Shareplex database replication and near real-time integration solution, helping to boost the company’s heterogeneous database support footprint.

“The complexity and continuing growth of data are driving the need for better management of leading databases, and SQL Server continues to play a critical role in the IT management ecosystem,” said Matt Wolken, vice president and general manager, information management, Dell Software. “With our collective expertise, and the breadth and depth of our SQL Server solutions spanning the entire IT infrastructure, Dell remains committed to leading the way in the development of solutions that assist organisations worldwide to manage, monitor and protect Microsoft SQL Server environments."

The range of new solutions will be on display at next week’s PASS Summit, which takes place in Seattle, US from 2-7 November, and Dell World 2014, which takes place from 4-5 November in Austin, Texas, US.
