Honeywell is deploying 55,000 mobile computers at German post and parcel services company Deutsche Post DHL (DPDHL).
The company will provide DPDHL with Dolphin 99EX mobile computers, which uses the Honeywell SDK for Windows Embedded 7800 99EX solution.
The devices will enable approximately 60,000 employees to track the millions of DHL parcels that are delivered across Germany on a daily basis.
The Dolphin 99EX devices provide users with a robust and ergonomic mobile computer, and use Honeywell’s Remote MasterMind device management software, which supports Microsoft Windows Mobile and Windows CE operating systems.
“We wanted a rugged, easy-to-use device and a complete solution that offered a lower total cost of ownership for the next seven years,” said Claudia Allmann, project manager for handscanner operations integration at Deutsche Post DHL. “The performance of the Dolphin 99EX mobile computer and the service level and support provided by the Honeywell team stood out as best in class and they ensured that we have a state-of-the-art solution.”
The Dolphin 99EX devices DPDHL will receive are custom made and feature Deutsche Post DHL branding in the device housing, as well as a keypad with unique legend graphics and colouring. The mobile computers have an IP67-rating for protection when exposed to dust, water or multiple drops to concrete, and up to 16 hours battery life.
