Esri is to provide its online geographic information systems (GIS) technology to more than 30 European education ministries via a new partnership with European Schoolnet.
As part of the three-year partnership, Esri will advise the European Schoolnet team members about the use of its cloud-based ArcGIS Online platform, which runs on Microsoft technology. In addition, Esri will help the team to develop lesson plans related to the use of digital mapping technology.
ArcGIS Online will be implemented in European Schoolnet’s Future Classroom Lab, helping educators to improve geography lessons.
“The cloud-based capabilities of ArcGIS Online align very well with the other technologies we are using in the Future Classroom Lab,” said Benjamin Hertz, project coordinator of European Schoolnet. “It is a great tool for teachers to help students become enthusiastic about geography and how it is relevant to many other subjects. Lessons with ArcGIS Online bring science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education to a higher level.”
