Microsoft Italy is currently preparing an online certification scheme to train new IT security professionals in skills to prevent cybercrime. The training programme Alliance for Work will develop digital skills for students, professionals and organisations.

Microsoft will provide 30 free online and face-to-face courses to over 1,000 people within one month, including training sessions with Microsoft partners including Fondazione Mondo Digitale and Pipeline.

“The growth of risks and threats is obvious for all to see,” said Silvia Candiani, CEO of Microsoft Italy. “Unfortunately, there is a skill gap between companies on the security front and this can cause a potential delay in the detection time of breaches and consequently a cost of managing the cyberthreat on which the longevity of the business can sometimes depend.

“State-of-the-art technologies are no longer enough, but highly qualified personnel capable of dealing with any critical situation are needed. The lack of talent in this sector is a very urgent challenge.”

The Microsoft Security team actively monitors more than 35 ransomware families and 250 unique actors across nations, ransomware and criminal activity, and blocked over 9.6 billion malware threats and more than 35.7 billion phishing and over threats in 2021.

The initiative is part of the Ambizione Italia project, which is a five-year plan by Microsoft Italy that aims to generate new opportunities for people and organisations to grow through digital innovation.
