Video conferencing will be essential to business meetings in the post-Covid-19 era, predicted Chris Parker, senior product manager for visual solutions at Sharp, in a recent blog post discussing the trends emerging as a result of the pandemic and employees working remotely.

“From now on, meetings will always contain some element of video conferencing – which is perfect for the Windows collaboration display,” he said. “The necessity of remote and hybrid workforces working effectively together makes a video conferencing solution essential to any business.

“The ability and flexibility to move your meeting space to any place at any time and with any person will be crucial moving forward.”

Parker also believes that businesses are moving away from physical ownership of products towards a more subscription-based model. He explained the reason for this change: “Many companies are increasingly mindful of their cash flow and looking to avoid the large upfront capital expenditure for a big one-off outlay.”

Another trend Parker highlighted is bring your own device (BYOD), stating that the “idea of touching shared screens” is becoming “less appealing” in light of the Covid-19 pandemic. As such, he believes that touchless technologies will be increasingly popular going forward.
