Media streaming technology providers Bitmovin and ViewLift have partnered to enhance viewing experiences for global audiences. The collaboration will combine ViewLift’s content distribution capabilities with Bitmovin’s cloud-based video streaming infrastructure to elevate experiences on over-the-top (OTT) platforms.

The partnership builds on 2022 research from Bitmovin which found that 47 per cent of consumers have unsubscribed from a streaming service due to buffering issues. ViewLift and Bitmovin aim to meet demand by empowering content owners to deliver services at speed and scale, while maximising revenues.

“Partnering with Bitmovin is a win-win for both of us,” said Manik Bambha, president of ViewLift. “But the ultimate winners in this partnership are our customers and their viewers. Our joint capabilities are poised to provide them with an unrivalled OTT viewing experience.

“At a time when streaming quality is critical to viewer acquisition and retention and can make or break OTT businesses, our combined technology advantage will allow content owners to step up their game.”

Bitmovin’s encoding solutions – which feature multi-codec streaming and its Live Event Encoder – allow ViewLift customers to use the cloud to lower costs without sacrificing video quality.

“In today’s fiercely competitive video streaming market, quality of experience is vital for viewer retention,” said Stefan Lederer, CEO and co-founder of Bitmovin. “Teaming up with ViewLift means we will power the best viewing experiences and accelerate how quickly customers get to market and monetise their offerings so they can remain one step ahead of competitors."
