The rise of artificial intelligence and its impact on data privacy and protection was a hot topic of multiple keynotes at RSA Conference, which was held on 24-27 April 2023 in San Francisco, USA.

The first day of the conference featured a discussion between Chris Krebs, partner at Krebs Stamos Group, and Lisa Monaco, deputy attorney general and former homeland security advisor to President Obama, on how the US Department of Justice is responding to the rapidly evolving threat landscape. Monaco explained how the government department is working to prevent cybercrime and exploring the role generative AI could play in better protecting nation states.

Meanwhile, The Cryptographer’s Panel considered the importance of looking for quantum-resistant algorithms to protect organisations in the near future. Speakers drew upon the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s work to protect data from the imminent development of quantum computers.
