Microsoft employees, interns and select non-profit organisations are working together this week at the Microsoft Redmond campus to find new ways of using technology to solve some of society’s biggest issues.
Considered the world’s largest private hacking event, ‘Oneweek’ takes place over three days and will showcase the creations of Microsoft employees – some of which will eventually be made public through Microsoft Garage.
In 2016, more than 3,800 projects were created by 16,000 employees from 139 cities across 74 countries.
Twenty-three projects have since gone public, and further ideas have made their way into products and apps. This includes the newly released Seeing AI, which uses artificial intelligence to enable blind individuals or those with reduced vision to use their phones and devices more effectively.
