At this year’s Build event, Microsoft has released several new features for its Graph and Edge solutions. It has also outlined its vision for chatbots in the future of business.

Microsoft Graph is a solution that maps the relationships between people, information and activities within an organisation, providing insights to improve the way people work and collaborate.

Microsoft Graph data connect is a new service which aims to help organisations combine productivity data from Microsoft Graph with their own business data using Azure Data Factory. It is now available in Workplace Analytics and as a stock keeping unit for independent software vendors.

Microsoft also hopes to address some of the issues with today’s browsers through its new features for Microsoft Edge. These include: IE mode, which integrates Internet Explorer into Microsoft Edge through a tab allowing businesses to run legacy Internet Explorer-based apps in the new browser; privacy tools which adjust how third parties can track you across the web and give customers a more personalised experience; and collections which allow you to manage content more efficiently with Office integration.

Other announcements included Fluid Framework, a web-based platform aimed at giving users new ways to work together which will be available to developers later this year, and Microsoft’s vision for the future of intelligent agents. The new approach will focus on building conversational interfaces from data and machine learning instead of from rules and code, with the addition of Semantic Machines.
