After enabling customers to buy public transport tickets through the Pivo mobile app PayiQ is seeing great success with users in Finland.

Commuters can now use Pivo to buy bus tickets in as many as ten Finnish cities. Together the cities of Imatra, Hyvinkää, Joensuu, Jyväskylä, Kuopio, Lahti, Lappeenranta, Mikkeli, Oulu and Riihimäki regions have nearly 890,000 residents, making Pivo Finland’s largest public transport ticket app.

“Finnish people are really embracing mobile payment, and a large number of Pivo users are active commuters", says Masa Peura, senior vice president of payments, accounts and personal finance management at OP, the owner of Pivo. "Buying the tickets directly in Pivo, they will have the tickets conveniently on their mobile phone at all times."

The app can also be used to transfer funds between customers of Finnish banks using only a mobile number, as well as to make purchases on almost 7,000 online stores. The app has been downloaded over one million times with hundreds of thousands of active users.

"This is a brilliant example of how our PayiQ ticketing-as-a-service is used to the full,” said Tuomo Parjanen, CEO of PayiQ. “Our platform powers the app to be more than it was before by enabling new, customer-centric transport services.”
