As the newly crowned Microsoft UK Partner of the Year, IT services company risual has a great deal to celebrate at the moment. This year, the Stafford-based company marks its tenth anniversary, and for founders Richard Proud (pictured front, kneeling) and Alun Rogers, and their team, this latest accolade is the icing on the cake.
“It’s been a year of awards and achievements for us so far in 2015,” says Proud. “In the last few months we’ve been recognised as one of the best companies to work for by The Sunday Times, gained Investors in People and ISO 27001 accreditation, and now, to top it all, we’ve been named Microsoft’s leading UK partner.”
As stated by Microsoft, the Country Partner of the Year Awards honour companies that have demonstrated business excellence in delivering Microsoft solutions to multiple customers over the past year. In particular, this award recognises risual as succeeding in effective engagement with its local Microsoft office while showcasing innovation and business impact, driving customer satisfaction, and winning new customers.
“Microsoft’s rationale behind us winning the award this year means a great deal,” says Proud. “We’ve been a runner up a few times now, so to finally win in the year we celebrate our tenth anniversary, I think it means even more. It’s a recognition for all the hard work that everybody in our company has put in over the last decade to get to where we are today.”
Since it was established in 2005, risual has been committed to helping its customers get the maximum value from their Microsoft technology investments.
“Our offering has always been about deployment and consumption – that has been our business for ten years,” says Proud. “We base our success on helping customers actually use and consume Microsoft technology, not just getting them to buy licences.”
With the likes of Paul Smith, Greater Manchester Police and Essex County Council on its client list, risual is well versed in providing a wide range of consultancy services to the public and commercial sectors across the UK.
“Paul Smith is a great example of how we work with our customers to help them get real value from their IT investments,” says Proud. “They’ve been on a real journey to the cloud and we’ve been by their side to help them make the transition. Today, the company consumes a vast amount of cloud services, and we’re now working with them to manage specific workloads in the cloud. For example, we have just recently helped them move to Office 365 for all their communication and collaboration processes. By consuming their IT via the cloud, they’ve really improved the responsiveness of the business and positioned themselves for future growth.”
This week, Proud and the team are at the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference in Orlando, US, where they have been invited to celebrate their win and meet with the fellow partner community, as well as potential customers.
“WPC is a great place to go,” says Proud. “The atmosphere is fantastic, and it serves as a brilliant platform for some great partnering opportunities.”
With their eyes firmly on the future, Proud and the team at risual are now looking forward to another decade of success.
“We’re growing fast as an organisation, but we remain committed to our number one priority, which is to help our customers get the most of their investments – that’s really important to us,” he says. “From day one, we’ve based our business on a consumption-focused model and it’s great to see that Microsoft is now doing the same too.”
