Santander partners with Microsoft to drive digital transformation

Banco Santander and Microsoft have entered a partnership to drive the bank’s digital transformation. The firms’ collaboration will see Santander use the Microsoft Azure cloud plus other data, artificial intelligence and cognitive services.

Santander is using Microsoft technology and expertise to extend its cloud capabilities, accelerate the creation of cloud-native applications and develop new banking solutions. Microsoft will support the bank with Azure training for its employees.

“Our partnership with Santander comes at a transformative time for financial services, which is pivoting to digital quickly in response to industry-wide changes,” said Tom Keane, corporate vice president of Azure Global at Microsoft. “We are looking forward to deepening our cloud engagement with Santander as the company continues to drive digital innovation across its global operations.”

Santander can benefit from Microsoft’s commitment to security, compliance, privacy and transparency, particularly through its Financial Services Compliance programme, which allows banking firms and regulators to examine Microsoft cloud systems, services and processes.

“We firmly believe that through successful, customer-focused innovation we can earn greater loyalty by improving and personalising customers experiences, while also becoming more agile and efficient,” said Dirk Marzluf, head of Technology and Operations at Banco Santander. “Technology is a key enabler to the success of our business and Microsoft is a strong partner who will help us achieve our vision.”
