Wilson Parking launches digital solution on Microsoft Azure cloud

Hong Kong-based car management company Wilson Parking is launching a digital parking solution on Microsoft Azure to enable those using the new Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge to park more seamlessly. The solution will also manage traffic flows on the newly built bridge.

The bridge, which links Hong Kong and Macau with 11 cities on the Chinese mainland, was opened in October and is expected to be used for around 200 years. It is 55 kilometres long, cost around US$20 billion to build and is estimated to reach a daily volume of 29,100 vehicles by 2030 and 42,000 in 2037.

To meet this increased demand, Wilson Parking will enable drivers to pre-book parking spaces at the Hong Kong section through a website. According to a Microsoft blog post, Wilson Parking used Azure to build its solution due to its scalability and security.

“Customer focus is our company’s value and we aim to provide convenient and user-friendly pre-book parking services to parkers through innovation and technology applications anytime, anywhere,” a spokesman from Wilson Parking said in the blog post.

Azure provides a stable and secure foundation for the digital parking solution and Microsoft and Wilson Parking are exploring how to expand their partnership to use artificial intelligence and big data capabilities for forecasting and data mining.

“Microsoft is uniquely positioned to help Wilson Parking and other companies in the region to succeed in their digital transformation journeys through our agile platforms and solutions that prioritise flexibility, integration, and trust,” said Cally Chan, general manager of Microsoft Hong Kong. “Microsoft Azure offers flexibility and on-demand solutions to meet Wilson Parking’s changing needs.”
