WPC 2016: Acronis releases new data protection apps

Acronis has released two new offerings designed to enable Microsoft Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) to easily provision and manage a flexible range of backup services across physical and virtual environments.

Acronis Backup Cloud Extension for Microsoft Azure and Azure Stack, and Acronis Backup Cloud support for Office 365, were both unveiled at the Microsoft WPC 2016 event in Toronto.

By plugging Acronis Backup Cloud into Azure or Azure Stack environments, Microsoft CSPs are able to add increased value to their offerings by selling more complete backup and data protection services to customers.

With businesses facing more data protection challenges than ever before, the Acronis Backup Cloud Extension for Azure enables Microsoft CSPs to sell a unique cloud backup service. This service protects broad protection in Microsoft environments, across cloud and on-premise data centres, physical and virtual machines, and mobile devices, while making the most of their investments in Azure.

Acronis’s offerings protect data across Microsoft Exchange, Office 365, SQL Server, SharePoint and Active Directory, as well as workstations, servers, Hyper-V hosts, and mobile computing platforms.

Azure virtual machines can also be backed up by Microsoft CSPs thanks to the new releases. Further benefits include unified data protection management, highly flexible storage options, and a range of migration capabilities.

“Our customers value flexibility and control when it comes to using cloud services, especially for data protection,” said Carolina Losada, CEO at Microsoft CSP and Acronis partner Licencias OnLine. “With the Acronis Backup Cloud Extension for Microsoft Azure, we can now offer our customers a wide range of options for backup, storage and recovery of servers running in Microsoft Azure environments.”

“Nobody is better positioned than Microsoft when it comes to helping companies modernize their business with cloud solutions,” said John Zanni, CMO and SVP Channel and Cloud Strategy at Acronis. “Our new integrations with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Azure Stack make it extremely fast – a matter of minutes – for Microsoft CSPs to sell and provision Acronis backup to Microsoft end users with more flexible storage options than any other vendor.”
