VIEWPOINT 87 Enabling secure and seamless collaboration Cisco has strengthened its partnership with Microsoft to deliver enhanced security and device management with MDEP integration Three years ago, Cisco and Microsoft announced a strategic partnership to bring a broad range of certified collaboration devices optimised for Microsoft Teams Rooms. Today, Cisco offers one of the industry’s most comprehensive portfolios of Microsoft-certified devices, purpose-built to meet the needs of every workspace – from huddle rooms to boardrooms. Cisco devices deliver advanced, AI-powered audio and camera experiences, enabled by Cisco’s long-standing collaboration with Nvidia. With Nvidia’s AI and machine learning engines built directly into Cisco hardware, users benefit from capabilities such as intelligent noise removal and Cisco’s new ‘AI director’, which automatically selects the optimal camera view to improve meeting quality and engagement. Cisco devices are also ready to support Microsoft Facilitator for AI-driven notetaking and meeting summaries. Meanwhile, built-in wireless content sharing through AirPlay, Miracast and other options ensures a seamless and intuitive experience for participants. A key differentiator for Cisco’s portfolio is the RoomOS operating system. RoomOS turns Cisco devices into true extensions of the enterprise network, complete with AV over IP connected peripherals that simplify room deployments. Integrated sensors in their devices provide occupancy and environmental insights that can feed into smart building systems to improve workplace efficiency. RoomOS also provides unmatched flexibility, supporting both native Teams Rooms and Webex Meetings on a single device, without rebooting or reconfiguring, as well as interoperability with Zoom and Google Meet for frictionless and seamless cross-platform collaboration. Cisco recently announced the next major milestone in its partnership with Microsoft: support for the Microsoft Device Ecosystem Platform (MDEP). MDEP is Microsoft’s enterprise-grade Android platform built on the Android Open Source Project. Cisco integrates MDEP as a component within RoomOS 26. The solution combines Microsoft’s hardware attestation and software updates with RoomOS network security, encryption and remote management tools to deliver a layered, zerotrust security model that helps safeguard users, devices and data. Customers will be able to leverage MDEP’s trusted device provisioning alongside enterprise-scale device management, unrivalled observability and rich workspace analytics in Cisco’s Control Hub. Together, Cisco and Microsoft continue to simplify device deployment, strengthen security and elevate the collaboration experience for hybrid work.
