127 VIEWPOINT Connecting trusted intelligence to every financial decision To thrive in an AI-led future, organisations will need to turn complex risk signals into confident decisions, backed by transparency, governance and accountability There’s a new AI model in the headlines almost every week now, and I’ve noticed something: each one matters a little less than the last. Models are commoditising fast, and once that happens, the differentiator for financial institutions stops being which one sits on their desktop. It becomes whose intelligence is feeding it. For too long, the financial services industry has made high-stakes decisions on point-in-time snapshots of risk – a credit view taken today, filed away and revisited next quarter, while the world kept moving on. As AI becomes the primary interface for decision-making, we have an opportunity to give our customers something better: a continuous, up-to-date, integrated view of risk that moves at the speed of the market. But that only works if the intelligence behind it can be trusted and explained, to a regulator, a board and a shareholder. That’s what our partnership with Microsoft is built to solve. We’re bringing decisiongrade intelligence – credit, risk, entity and ownership data – directly into the Microsoft 365 environment where financial professionals already work. This means the intelligence shows up right at the point of decision, so they don’t have to go elsewhere to look for it. Microsoft and Moody’s are two brands built on trust, bringing together a governed enterprise platform and a governed set of data and intelligence, so our customers can not only work faster, but also better and safer. That’s really the whole idea: a platform fast enough to keep pace with markets, and data disciplined enough that you can trust it. Most companies can offer you one or the other. Very few can give you both at once, which is exactly why this partnership matters. The institutions that come out ahead here won’t be the ones who adopted the newest model first. They’ll be the ones who asked the hard question about the data they use before the model ever touched it: can I stand behind it when it counts? That’s the standard we’re setting with Microsoft and it’s the one every partnership like this should be held to. Rob Fauber is CEO of Moody’s Corporation
