140 FEATURE “The labour market in manufacturing across the globe had witnessed severe shortage long before the pandemic hit. To address this challenge, Infosys has been coinnovating with manufacturers by building user-centric solutions that are rapidly deployable. We have pivoted our offerings around user experience transformation, app modernisation, purposeful automation, user adoption models and mobility enablement. For a large full-service manufacturer of automobiles and material handling equipment, we leveraged Microsoft Canvas Apps, Power Automate and Power BI for designing persona-based surveys, warranties and daily/weekly audits, which are accessible on the go on any device on the shopfloor. This, in turn, helped reimagine their dealer management, which was key to their operations, delivering substantial gains in productivity.” “We’re helping customers to gather feedback from their employees and use Microsoft Power BI to prioritise actions from that data. This allows people to feel that they have a voice at work, helping to increase employee retention levels. We also ensure workers have all the information they need to do their jobs correctly. Microsoft Power Apps, for example, is helping shop floor workers to see where certain products are in the production process so they can inform customers. Many of our customers are also turning to gamification and using Microsoft Power BI to train employees and show how they contribute to the production process. This helps workers to identify when they need some help from team leads to improve their performance.” Ramana Raju Nidadavolu Go-to-Market and Marketing Lead, Microsoft Business Applications Services, Infosys “We use Microsoft’s ‘Modern Work’ suite of tools, which includes Microsoft Teams, SharePoint and the Microsoft 365 platform. The Teams application includes a mobile app, which means you can use it as a framework to help manufacturers build an environment where employees can collaborate on key content. This creates a greater sense of ‘team’ within the organisation, which helps drive improved retention. Another tool that we’ve incorporated into our Manufacturing Experience Center is the Microsoft HoloLens device, which is very good at supporting accelerated on-the-job learning.” Tom Doran Chief Marketing Officer Innovia Consulting David McLaughlin Principal, Dynamics 365 Industrials Leader, RSM US Photo: pexels/Tim Douglas Photo: pexels/Tiger Lily Photo: RSM
