Microsoft has confirmed that it will be releasing the latest version of its integrated development environment, Visual Studio 2015, on 20 July – nine days before the debut of Windows 10.
This new release has a much greater focus on cross-platform development. Using Visual Studio 2015, developers will be able to create mobile apps for iOS, Android and Windows. They will also benefit from greater game development support thanks to partnerships with Unity, Unreal and Cocos.
Other new features in Visual Studio 2015 include diagnostics tools, Roslyn language services for C# and VB, advanced debugging testing, as well as various user interface and performance improvements.
To celebrate the launch, Microsoft is holding an online event on 20 July where you can learn about the new features and technologies, and take part in a Q&A session. Visit the Visual Studio 2015 Final Release Event site to find out more.
