Speciality food manufacturer Cottage Delight has expanded its business management capabilities following a better-than-expected roll-out of K3 Business Solution’s tailored Microsoft Dynamics AX solution.

After deploying K3’s Dynamics AX solution, Cottage Delight exceeded its two-year transformation targets and now has a business management system, which integrates supply chain management, trade and logistics, finance, accounting and production procedures.

In addition to enhancing operational efficiency, K3’s solution safeguards future business growth by enabling Cottage Delight to review various issues including the management of procurement channels and reducing waste produced during batch manufacturing.

“When we went live with the new Dynamics AX system we believed that we would see the first year of operation as being challenging, the second as a making up period – as we thought there may be internal friction within the business – and the third year as our blossoming period,” said Jason Moody, managing director at Cottage Delight. “We are already entering the blossoming stage earlier than expected and we are convinced that we can get even more out of the system during 2014.”

By expanding its existing K3 business management solution, Cottage Delight has increased its inventory control and improved its ability to report and forecast information.

Other improvements include automated labelling functionality – such as batch expiry date, shelf life and best before dates – and a pre-programmed ‘stop’ command when products are no longer available. Both of these features have proven vital during Cottage Delight’s pre-Christmas trading, which accounts for 50% of its total annual business.
