At Microsoft Ignite on 4-8 November, cross-platform solution provider Parallels will preview the new version of its Remote Application Server (RAS). The updated solution aims to simplify end-user computing for service providers and enterprises.
When it launches in December, Parallels RAS 17.1 will significantly increase administrative capabilities on Microsoft Azure. The new version will feature a multi-tenant architecture with Tenant Broker, which will enable organisations to share the same infrastructure for different customers while keeping data segregated and optimising costs.
The solution will also feature Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) authentication. This will help to streamline the management of user identities between different organisations, without sharing the local identity database. This will not only reduce admin and operational costs, but it will also allow users to log on to applications more easily, without re-entering credentials.
“Centralised management through a single pane of glass is the benchmark feature admins look for in their VDI solutions,” said Nick Dobrovolskiy, senior vice president of engineering and support at Parallels. “Parallels RAS 17.1 significantly upgrades management tools across the board, while offering the most cost-effective solution on the market.
“Admins can now deploy workloads natively on Microsoft Azure, as well as hybrid and multi-cloud, leveraging the scalability of the cloud and Parallels RAS automation. Service providers can now more easily and effectively deploy their solutions on customer devices, as well as use native iOS and Android touch gestures when working from iPhone, iPad and Android devices.”
