Microsoft is updating its OneDrive for Business offering over the next few weeks to make the user experience more clean, simple, intuitive, and consistent.
The Simple Controls feature allows users to create new Office documents, upload files, sync to take files offline, and share files internally and externally.
This option will now appear directly above personal work document folders.
Microsoft has also added a Site Folders link into the main OneDrive for Business web view, which takes users directly to those document libraries within SharePoint sites that they follow.
The company has also improved the OneDrive for Business search meaning that when users start typing they can find a document that was shared with them. They can also share these files directly from within the search results.
The search box has also moved from the upper right to the upper left.
Microsoft has made other changes to the user interface, such as highlighting documents and people users have in common with the person viewing the About Me page.
“As we move forward, we’ll continue to listen to your feedback and rapidly innovate the user experience to best meet your ease of use,” commented Mark Kashman, senior product manager at Microsoft.
These updates apply to all Office 365 for business plans, as well as Office 365 government G1, G3, and G4 offerings.
