Skype makes it easier for users to obtain and use the Translator preview

Users that wish to obtain the Skype Translator preview can now download the app from the Windows Store and begin using it on their Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 preview PC or tablet straight away.

The sign-up requirement has been removed, making it easier to obtain and start using the preview.

Skype Translator currently has four available spoken languages – English, Spanish, Italian and Mandarin.

50 instant messaging languages are also available, which means users can write a text message in their own language, and the recipient will receive the message in the language of their choice.

“Skype Translator is transforming communications one conversation at a time – it’s potential in breaking down barriers is only limited by our own imaginations!” said Microsoft’s Yasmin Khan in a Skype blog post. “Our goal for Skype Translator is to translate as many languages as possible on relevant platforms, and to deliver the best speech translation experience to our more than 300 million connected Skype customers.”
