ARC Advisory Group’s 13th India Forum for the process and discrete industries, titled ‘Industry in Transition: The Information Driven Enterprise for the Connected World’ took place from 9-10 July in Bangalore, India.
Attracting more than 300 delegates, the two-day forum focused on technology and provided end users, solution providers and decision makers with a platform to network, share new technologies and processes, and understand market requirements. The main aim of the forum was to enable attendees to explore how to use relevant information and technology to maximise productivity and increase return on investment.
The session topics covered advancement in digital enterprise; challenges in automation, digital connect and asset information management; and the strategies needed to enhance business performance, operational excellence and drive growth. Ultimately, it is all about collaboration at every level, which was the crux of the forum.
Keynote presentations were given by Valentijn de Leeuw, vice president of ARC Advisory Group Europe; KS Viswanathan, vice president of NASSCOM; Arundhati Bhattacharya, general manager of NTPC; Gautam Dutta, director of marketing at Siemens Industry Software India; Harish Mehra, global head of Manufacturing Operations Management, Engineering and Industrial Services at TCS; and Suresh Sankarakrishnan, general manager – South at Rockwell Automation.
In addition to presentations and case studies from suppliers, the ARC forum also featured speeches from key speakers in the pharmaceutical, chemical and steel industries. This end-user perspective gave a whole new dimension to the forum. Both days had interactive and lively question and answer sessions.
All of the presentations at the two-day forum clearly highlighted that sifting through surplus information and adopting new process and technologies is no longer an option, it is essential for companies wanting to remain competitive and achieve sustainable operational excellence. It is imperative for industries to adopt new IT technologies, such as cloud computing, mobility, social technologies, the internet of things, big data analytics, and 3D visualisation to achieve agility and become information-driven digital enterprises.
