Automotive manufacturer Stellantis is collaborating with Microsoft to co-develop cloud and cybersecurity capabilities and over 100 AI initiatives spanning customer care, product development and operations.

As part of the new five-year agreement, the companies will use AI for initiatives such as product development and validation, predictive vehicle maintenance and testing, cyberthreat detection, strengthening response capabilities across global operations, and more.

“As AI rapidly advances, we have been early adopters across our business, from engineering and manufacturing to design and customer interaction,” said Ned Curic, chief engineering and technology officer at Stellantis. “Through our collaboration with Microsoft, we are accelerating our AI momentum across the enterprise, giving our teams the tools to innovate faster and deliver the products, services and experiences customers expect from us.”

Stellantis will use Microsoft’s security platform to deploy an AI-driven global cyberdefence centre to better protect its IT systems, manufacturing sites, digital products and connected vehicles.

This will enable Stellantis to embed safeguarding measures into digital vehicle experiences, mobile applications and in-vehicle services.

“By combining Stellantis’ global scale and engineering expertise with Microsoft’s trusted cloud, AI and security platforms, we are delivering real value for millions of drivers worldwide,” said Judson Althoff, CEO of Microsoft’s commercial business.

Stellantis will migrate to the Microsoft Azure cloud platform to modernise and scale its digital infrastructure, while reducing its data centre footprint by 60 per cent by 2029. In addition, all employees now have access to Microsoft Copilot Chat.
