Microsoft executives to share insights at sessions during NRF 2023

Discussions will explore how technology from Microsoft and its partners is transforming retail

Microsoft will be taking part in various sessions at NRF 2023: Retail’s Big Show on 15-17 January 2023 in New York, USA.

The sessions will focus on customer experiences, digital transformation and how Microsoft’s solutions are helping retailers make the most of technology. Several brands and partners will also be featured in the sessions, including Kyndryl, Walgreens, Chipotle, McFadyen Digital and FedEx Dataworks. Sessions will include:

Resilient retail. Achieve more with Microsoft Cloud for Retail produced by Microsoft — 15 January at 11:00 EST

This interactive session will be hosted by Shelley Bransten, corporate vice president of retail and consumer goods industries at Microsoft. She will be asking Tomasz Blicharski, executive vice president of Żabka Group, and Roxanne Flanagan, senior vice president and chief supply chain officer at Walgreens, to discuss how their businesses are using Microsoft technology to build resilience and ‘do more with less’.

Bransten will also discuss Microsoft Cloud for Retail and showcase how its new capabilities can help elevate the store experience and empower store associates.

Where is restaurant technology headed in the next five years? — 15 January at 15:00 EST

This panel will discuss how digital transformation has allowed organisations in the restaurant industry to take control or marketing, loyalty and operations, and how digital transformation in the back of the house can help team members deliver a quality guest experience. The discussion will focus on how businesses can leverage technology to help frontline workers and managers be more efficient.

The panel will feature Ira Gleser, director and industry executive at Microsoft; Bruce Hoffmeister, chief information officer at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store; and Colin McGuire, vice president of corporate systems at Chipotle Mexican Grill.

Web3: Retail’s three year roadmap produced by McFadyen Digital — 15 January at 15:15 EST

The session will be led by Nick Katsivelos, global media industry digital strategy director for Microsoft, and Peter Evans, chief strategy officer at McFadyen Digital. It will focus on how retailers can separate excitement from reality when building a Web3 strategy, and whether new innovations such as the metaverse, cryptocurrencies and digital good marketplaces are new channels for growth or high-risk ventures.

The here and now of retail: What every retailer must know to navigate today’s landscape produced by Microsoft — 16 January at 11:00 EST

Alysa Taylor, corporate vice president of Azure and industry, will be discussing what retailers need to keep in mind as the virtual landscape for retail rapidly changes, and how they can chart their path to success.

She will be joined by Tony Kreager, senior vice president of data engineering and data science at FedEx Dataworks, and Derek Przybylo, principal of climate change and sustainability services at EY.

Fnac Darty responding to Black Friday peak produced by Kyndryl — 16 January at 16:00 EST

Multinational retailer Fnac Darty will highlight how Kyndryl helped the business to reinforce and secure the existing IT infrastructure to absorb unprecedented peak loads during an influx of online sales on Black Friday 2022. The business will also share how migrating part of the fnac.com web front-end application to a Microsoft Azure environment has maximised sales and optimised the customer experience.

President of Kyndryl France Philippe Roncati, president of Kyndryl US Amy Salcido and Olivier Theulle, director of eCommerce and digital at Groupe Fnac Darty, will all be taking part in the discussion.
