Investment management company BlackRock has partnered with Microsoft to host its Aladdin operating system on the Microsoft Azure cloud. The move will improve the platform’s security and bring new capabilities and opportunities to BlackRock’s customers and the wider financial services industry.

The end-to-end investment portfolio management solution will benefit from greater scale and Azure’s network of global data centres to meet the localised needs of customers, for example by providing advanced risk analytics and data management.

“By bringing Aladdin to the cloud, Microsoft will support BlackRock in further enhancing its client experience while also enabling continuous innovation in the financial services industry,” said Judson Althoff, executive vice president of Microsoft’s Worldwide Commercial Business. “Together, we will empower an ecosystem of financial services customers running their most critical workloads in the cloud.”

As part of the partnership, Microsoft and BlackRock will also work together to drive sustainable finance initiatives, leveraging technology to improve and expand sustainability data and analytics for the industry.
