Datalogic has deployed more than 600 mobile computers at automotive safety systems manufacturer Autoliv.
Deployed across the company’s European plants, Autoliv has selected Datalogic’s Falcon X3, Skorpio X3 and Memor mobile computers to create systems that help guarantee secure vehicles and substantially reduce traffic accidents and injuries.
“As Autoliv, a market leader in automotive safety systems, focuses on one very important issue – that of saving lives, we are proud to be part of this effort by ensuring efficiency and safety every step of the way through the use of our products,”said Romano Volta, chairman and CEO of Datalogic Group.
The Falcon X3 and Skorpio X3 devices both use the Microsoft Windows Embedded Handheld 6.5 or Microsoft Windows CE 6.0 Operating System operating system, while Memor runs on Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 or Windows CE 5.0.
Datalogic mobile computers are used at the end of the assembly line to ensure each product is packaged correctly and with the right label. Data is recorded in the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system and a final check is conducted to ensure products are both labeled correctly and being sent to the right location. Warehouse operators then use Datalogic’s mobile computers to scan products in order to ensure they correspond with shipping labels.
The deployment has helped Autoliv increase productivity while reducing risk, and has enabled the company increase responsiveness when detecting an error. This means staff are able to correct potential problems before service quality is affected, helping the company to better meet customer requirements and help advance levels of safety in the automobile market.
Systems integrator Groupe Prisme proposed the Datalogic mobile computer solution to Autoliv, and Stéphane Cazat, ERP team leader at Autoliv, said: “Datalogic mobile computers provide an important contribution to work efficiency today regardless of the ERP in front. The use of mobile computers in the coming years will increase and Autoliv Europe is looking forward to continuing the constructive partnership with Datalogic and Groupe Prisme. Our products save lives and by providing smart products that allow us to ensure our quality of service, Datalogic contributes to this objective.”
