Gamma Communications to improve calling experience for Microsoft Teams

Firm named as a partner for the Operator Connect for Microsoft Teams programme

Gamma Communications is to help Microsoft integrate public switched telephone network calling functionalities into its Microsoft Teams enterprise communication platform.

The firm, which has delivered voice solutions for Microsoft for more than 15 years, has joined the Operator Connect for Microsoft Teams programme. This will enable businesses to choose Gamma as their communications operator and assign phone numbers to users through the Teams admin centre, reducing deployment and management complexity.

Gamma’s session initiation protocol (SIP) Trunk Call Manager will provide users with enhanced Teams Phone functionalities, as well as native fraud management capabilities to prevent toll fraud. If there is a service failure, SIP Trunk Call Manager will also enable users to manage calls on the Gamma cloud.

“We were the first carrier to truly embrace internet protocol and have built a position as the UK’s number one SIP provider, with over a third of businesses trusting Gamma to carry their voice traffic,” said Chris Wade, Gamma’s chief marketing and product officer. “Over the past decade, we’ve been supporting Microsoft services through various previous iterations, including Lync and Skype for Business. Teams is one of the most successful incarnations of unified communications that Microsoft has given us.

“By combining our expertise and reliability with Microsoft’s operator-managed service, our customers will benefit from a reliable and secure service to easily maximise value from their Teams environment.”

Microsoft and Gamma’s partnership will also provide customers with increased support and reliability through the Operator Excellence structure.

“Gamma’s inclusion amongst a select number of operators is a testament to the company’s extensive experience as one of the UK’s leading SIP providers and their expertise in delivering voice solutions for Teams,” said Taimoor Husain, modern workplace strategy and to-to-market lead for telcos at Microsoft. “We’re pleased to continue working with them to create an integrated calling experience for all Teams users.”
