Microsoft has unveiled the next generation of its Azure Stack HCI, on the first day of the Microsoft Inspire 2020 event. The latest iteration will provide customers with hybrid cloud capabilities for their data centres.
The company describes it as an “Azure service that combines the price-performance of hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) with native Azure hybrid capabilities, all while letting enterprises leverage existing skills.” It features the latest security, performance, and hybrid enhancements and enables users to manage both Azure Stack HCI deployments and Azure resources from the Azure portal.
IT administrators can also use a new deployment wizard to quickly setup an Azure Stack HCI cluster to use services such as Azure Backup, Azure Security Center, and Azure Monitor.
Microsoft partners including Intel and Lenovo are creating hardware that integrates with the updated offering.
“The combination of our technologies will further accelerate customers’ modernisation of their IT and journey to the hybrid cloud, leveraging hybrid capabilities with the seamless integration of Azure,” said Kamran Amini, a datacentre infrastructure lead at Lenovo Data Center Group.
