Australian bank Westpac has partnered with Microsoft to launch the Data Driven Experience Platform (DDEP), a data hub for digital banking. Through it, Westpac aims to deliver more personalised services based on greater understanding of customer behaviour and preferences.

The hub is hosted on Microsoft Azure and uses Azure DevOps and Azure Sentinel and Security Centre to secure the data it stores and ensure the bank complies with the Open Banking requirements of Australia’s Consumer Data Right Legislation.

“The DDEP gives us access to an incredibly rich set of capabilities that enable us to engage digitally in real-time with our customers in a way that’s personalised, intelligent and autonomous,” said Craig Bright, chief information officer of Westpac Group. “Our customers will start to experience this with the roll-out of our new mobile app [in 2020].”

In addition to the firms’ co-investment in the hub, Westpac is moving to Microsoft 365 to empower employees with collaboration tools such as OneDrive, SharePoint, Yammer, and Teams. The bank is also using Microsoft 365 E5 products such as Dynamics 365, Power BI and Windows Modern Management and will soon add virtual desktop infrastructure.
