Microsoft is extending its presence in the smart cities space with the launch of a new toolkit.
Working with G3ict and World Enabled, Microsoft is supporting the Smart Cities for All initiative. This project aims to define the state of accessible technology across global cities, and close the digital divide for people with disabilities and older generations.
As part of this initiative, the Smart Cities for All Toolkit has been released with the aim of empowering city leaders with the resources they need to create communities that are more inclusive.
The toolkit includes resources aimed at supporting the implementation of ICT accessibility standards and procurement policies. The toolkit also offers users ideas around how to make the case for a stronger commitment to digital inclusion, as well as a framework for an accessibility solution database.
The Smart Cities for All toolkit is to be unveiled at this week’s Smart Cities NYC conference, which takes place from 3-6 May in New York, US.
