Microsoft has added new enterprise features to Internet Explorer (IE) 11 for Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 users.
With Enterprise Mode for Internet Explorer, the company has introduced backwards compatibility between IE11 and IE8 applications.
This means users can now run legacy IE8 web-based applications and modern sites side-by-side.
Microsoft is also going to release IE11 on Windows Phone 8.1 for the first time.
It will add features commonly used on the Windows desktop version, such as the ability to pin sites directly to the Start Screen , Reading Mode for viewing articles in the same way as an e-book and Voice Commands to allow users to browse sites by speaking to the device.
IE11 for Windows Phone also includes InPrivate browsing mode and the new High Savings Mode, which can cut data consumption by 60-80% by reducing image downloads and only loading elements of the page relevant to the content you want to view.
