Ticketing platform provider PayiQ has launched its first branded transport application in Russia. Utilising the Bank of Russia’s Faster Payments System and PayiQ’s ticketing-as-a-service platform, the UmKA Smart Card app enables users to manage cards used to pay for public transport in the city of Ryazan.
The application, which was developed in collaboration with Russian partners GetFare, ATOL Online and Gazprombank, enables Ryazan’s public transport passengers to buy monthly passes, check their card balance and top-up history, and receive notifications and news from the operator, all via a smartphone.
“We are pleased to present our first branded app on the Russian market that will be well recognised by passengers,” said Elena Lipchenko, Russian regional director at PayiQ. “Previously, we had the experience of replenishing Moscow and St Petersburg transport cards using our own PayiQ Tickets application. However, branding the app for better customer recognition is a more effective strategy. The solution is easy to scale, so further deployment of mobile tickets and digitalisation of payment and validation processes in transport will be possible in a short time.”
