PayiQ updates Ticketing as a Service mobility platform

Transport technology provider PayiQ has updated its Ticketing as a Service platform to feature new accessibility functions and greater compliance with European Union regulations regarding the security of mobile services. 

PayiQ says that the platform has been upgraded to “run on a more standardised, highly scalable enterprise Linux in the Microsoft Azure cloud”. With a new open licensing model, PayiQ partners can also quickly and easily create custom, white-label applications that deliver branded and multilingual user interfaces. 

“2020 was a challenging year for public transport, as it was for many other industries,” said Tuomo Parjanen, CEO of PayiQ. “As some development areas had to be put on hold, we focused on making our platform more open, standardised, compatible and ready for wider international markets. 

“All these changes are supporting our efforts to build a globally strong ecosystem of cross-industry vendors, research centres and mobility operators to better solve the challenges of the changed post-Covid-19 urban environment.”

In line with EU directives, PayiQ has increased the security and ease of use of its mobile applications, and has made accessibility improvements, for example with screen readers for the visually impaired. 

Other features include a faster payments system, ticket sharing, custom travel card development and a web interface for users.
