PetroChina expands use of Honeywell software tools

PetroChina Company Limited is to expand its use of Honeywell advanced information management and process modelling software tools to 17 of its refining and petrochemical sites across China.

In PetroChina currently uses Honeywell solutions at 13 sites in China, where the demand for chemicals and transportation fuels is growing quickly.

Honeywell’s Refining and Petrochemical Modeling System (RPMS) and Intuition Executive advanced information management software, both of which are built on Microsoft technology, supports plant operators at PetroChina by allowing them to monitor operations across the organisation and provide real-time information to help improve plant profitability and efficiency.

“Refiners and chemical plant operators must make complex business decisions quickly to take advantage of rapidly changing market conditions – from prices for feedstocks such as crude oil and natural gas, to rising demand for finished products,” said Aldous Wong, vice president and general manager, Honeywell Process Solutions, China. “Implementing these Honeywell solutions across more of their locations will help PetroChina maximise profitability through better visibility and efficiency of their overall operations, and help them meet the growing demand for energy.”

The largest oil and gas producer and distributor in China, PetroChina has worked with Honeywell for nine years, first deploying RPMS at the company’s Beijing headquarters. The latest project is expected to be completed within two years.
