Microsoft is working with the SCG team to improve the company’s digital capabilities
Microsoft Thailand is helping building material company Siam Cement Group (SCG) to strengthen its digital capabilities so it can gain a greater understanding of customer needs and provide better quality of service for customers.
Microsoft is working to improve SCG’s capabilities in three key areas: building intelligence through data analysis provided by the Digital Commerce Platform; optimising production lines by using artificial intelligence (AI) to combine machinery, people and processes and track their work through the internet of things (IoT); and future-proofing the company by researching and developing quantum computing solutions.
“This partnership is another important step forward for SCG as we continue on a digital transformation journey with the goal of enhancing business capabilities and bringing better quality of life in the fast-changing digital era,” said Roongrote Rangsiyopash, president and CEO of SCG. “Recently, SCG has advanced its technologies across multiple operations including the development of innovative solutions for better living, such as SCG Bi-ion technology for eliminating airborne germs or SCG IoT Sensing Thermostat for wireless, intelligent, energy-efficient control of air conditioning systems.”
The company has also developed its supply chain management systems to reduce costs by 60 per cent through shortened operation time. In addition, it has enhanced its ordering platform so that more than 10,000 retailers are accessible on a cost and inventory management system.
“SCG has also adopted the use of AI from Microsoft’s Project Bonsai platform to develop a digital twin that enables better optimisation of the production line for processes, such as switching to a different grade of plastics or further tuning to meet exact customer demands,” said Rangsiyopash.
Dhanawat Suthumpun, managing director of Microsoft Thailand, added: “Under this partnership, Microsoft will support SCG in integrating digital innovations into every aspect of operation through valuable core technologies and tools – including the Azure cloud platform and solutions such as Dynamics and Microsoft 365 – that enhance productivity for everyone in the organisation.”
