Skype Translator preview is coming to Skype for Windows desktop app

Skype Translator preview technology will be coming to the Skype for Windows desktop app this summer.

Skype has also reported a 300% increase in Skype Translator usage since the sign-up requirement was removed in May 2015.

The Skype Translator preview application now includes four spoken languages – English, Spanish, Italian and Mandarin – as well as 50 written instant messaging languages. Furthermore, as Skype Translator uses machine learning, the technology will continue to improve as more people use it.

“We are thrilled with the positive response from around the world, and especially thankful to all of the early adopters who downloaded the application, and use it every day,” said Yasmin Khan, Microsoft. “We will continue to expand the repertoire of languages as they meet our quality standard.”
