Nine out of ten (93 per cent) organisations plan to use agentic AI for work they currently outsource to software developers, according to Reply’s recently commissioned study.

The research was conducted by Forrester Consulting, involving over 500 IT executives from across Europe and the US. It highlights a critical turning point for software development.

While 76 per cent of firms have integrated use of AI into certain phases of software development lifecycle, the study brings attention to a significant maturity gap as only 20 per cent reported achieving AI integration in its entirety.

Forrester also found 78 per cent of leaders feel offshoring software development work complicates adherence with GDPR, in addition to 76 per cent reporting that it increases risks of technical faults and errors with code quality.

“The findings of the Forrester Study confirm what we are seeing in the market: AI is no longer just a productivity tool, but a useful disruptor that demands a new operating model,” said Filippo Rizzante, chief technology officer at Reply.

The study found that 81 per cent of leaders believe agentic AI systems will become a competitive necessity within the next three to five years. Reply’s Silicon Shoring will help organisations reduce time-to-market and development complexity through intelligent automation and AI integration across all phases from coding through to deployment and monitoring.

“With our Silicon Shoring model, we are answering this need by combining the proximity of Reply industry-specific and AI experts with the infinite scalability of agentic AI, ensuring that our clients can innovate faster without compromising on security or architectural integrity,” said Rizzante.
